Hi all, i hope life is treating you fairly  ..
I could not believe it ..  we actually got some money back from the tax man and it was a fair sum too, enough to invest in a tablet. We decided to go for an IPad2 as we already use a Mac, Sharon my partner loves to use the computer in the evenings and loves the idea of sitting in a comfy chair whilst going online and i want to use it instead of my Samsung laptop for my reference pics while i work. My son is jumping up and down like a lunatic about it too and thinks he's going to get to use it for games "Ha .. unlucky Dan". Anyway we got a good bargain or so i thought. We paid £400 for it and it's very nice .. except i can't use it!! First .. we are not wireless, second .. my operating system is too old to talk to the tablet so we had to upgrade our internet connection and then i have to upgrade the Mac which is adding another £100 or so. This has p***ed me off to say the least and i'm not looking forward to fitting everything together as i'm useless at doing that sort of thing. I might as well invested in some good quality photo printing paper and be done with it and spent the rest on art materials .. but saying that, Shaz will be able to surf and chat and play her games while i am on DA and i'll finally have decent reference images to use and Dan can go stomping back to his xbox to play his games. So if i disappear for a while it's probably because i'm made a right mess in installing the wireless router .. wish me luck ;)
Isn't it funny how getting money back works out more expensive in the long run!

Oh yes I know the feeling all too well.... I've had to upgrade out wireless and stilll don't have everything the way it should be plus I've got an older computer that I was hoping to put back into use but now know that'll never happen! Technology is great when it works right :D Good luck my friend! :D

Yes and i didn't put a code into mine at first and it was slow as hell then I added a security code and everything got better... I guess my neighbors enjoyed the free wi-fi for a little while :D

Hah, indeed, I had a very similar experience recently. I'm just glad that I don't have to get 'up to date' for at least another five years or so. It sounds like your current hardware will also be more than adequate, especially considering the trends in software lately (lighter, faster, able to run on less and less computing power). I hope this paradoxical purchase helps to open up new digital experiences for you and your family. :) Tablets can be used in interesting ways.

Yes just got to upgrade to the latest spec on the Mac OS X. There is a new system upgrade out very soon so i'll wait for that so i don't have all those updates to install, mines is a couple of years old now. Got it all up and running wirelessly easily enough now and i'm pretty chuffed about that and i'm walking around the house looking pretty smug now .. could have done without all this mucking about though
Can't wait to explore the possibilities of the tablet :D

As a computer moron, I can relate to your headaches. I've spent way too much time over the last few days trying to figure out why I can't play videos on Firefox (my usual browser). I definitely have a love/hate relationship with technology. Good luck.

I am not computer savvy myself, so I can relate to your 'connectivity' headaches! I wish you luck, Mark!
